Why Chocolate Makers Choose Hazelnut Butter

Hazelnut balances chocolate instead of competing with it. Roasting brings out a natural sweetness and a toasty depth with only a slight bitterness at the finish. In gianduja, fillings, and spreads, that sweetness offsets cocoa’s own bitterness without a heavy hand on added sugar. Hazelnuts also carry more oil than almonds, pistachios, or cashews, grinding into a fluid, glossy paste that blends into cocoa butter systems without graininess. For confectioners building a filled-bar line, hazelnut sits naturally beside pistachio paste as the second flavor the range needs.

How JSS Almonds Supports Emerging Food Brands

  • MOQs sized for a pilot run. We take the orders larger processors won’t touch, letting you launch a SKU without warehousing six months of inventory.
  • U.S.-grown, tariff-free supply. We source U.S.-grown hazelnuts and process every batch in California, keeping your pricing off the import cycle.
  • BRCGS AA+ certified processing. Among the highest ratings in the industry, backed by HACCP, GMPs, SSOPs, and environmental monitoring.
  • A peanut-free, tree-nut-only facility. No peanuts anywhere in the operation keeps your hazelnut butter allergen statement clean.
  • One supplier across six tree nuts. Hazelnut, almond, pistachio, cashew, pecan, and walnut butters run through one certified facility and one audit trail.
  • Hands-on product development. Our team works alongside your R&D through pilot, scale-up, and reformulation

Hazelnut Butter Processed to Your Specification

Hazelnuts arrive at our Bakersfield facility, where each lot is inspected and sorted before processing. From there the run follows your formula. Kernels are roasted to the profile you approved, from a light roast that keeps the paste pale for white chocolate and creams to a dark roast that holds its own inside dark chocolate, then milled to a fluid grind for depositors and gianduja bases or held slightly coarser for a spread. Salt, sweeteners, and fat content adjust to your target.

Bulk Hazelnut Butter Packaging That Scales With You

We offer a range of packaging options to suit your brand’s needs.

If you need finished, retail-ready jars under your own brand, our private label program handles production and packaging to your specifications.

Hazelnut Butter FAQs

We adjust roast, grind, salt, sweeteners, and fat content to match your application, then sample against your formula until it runs the way you need. From there, our team helps you weigh the decisions that set a SKU apart, from roast direction and texture to the story on the label.

Hazelnut butter is ground hazelnuts and nothing else, or hazelnuts with salt. A hazelnut spread adds sugar, cocoa, and usually a fat to soften the texture, the format most shoppers know from the retail aisle. We manufacture the hazelnut butter base with salt and sweeteners formulated to your spec, and brands building a full spread take it from there on their own line.

We run hazelnut butter to the specs gianduja and filled bars demand: a fine, uniform grind, a viscosity that deposits cleanly at line temperature, and controlled oil separation so free oil does not migrate into the shell. Guidance on all three comes with every sample.

We keep MOQs low enough for product development and market entry, from R&D samples through first production runs. Order sizes flex upward from pilot runs into bulk hazelnut butter volumes in the same packaging formats you started with.

Plan on a best-by window of several months to a year for commercially packed hazelnut butter, with cool, stable storage doing the most to protect flavor. Roast level, packaging format, and storage temperature all move the number. Natural oil separation on the shelf is normal and stirs back in. During sampling, we help you set a realistic date for your specific product.

Our private label program takes hazelnut butter from your approved formula through finished, labeled jars under your brand, in case packs or full pallets ready for retail.
